Edgar Degas
Edgar Degas is regarded as one of the founding fathers of Impressionism, even though he preferred the term ‘Realist’. Degas was a master of capturing the moment and was particularly skilled at capturing movement. He used the traditional methods that he learned as a history painter to become a classical painter of daily life. He is probably most famous for his depictions of ballet dancers.
