Gertjan van Geerenstein (1962) is a narrative photographer. He specializes in visual stories, social photography, travel reports and portraits and works in black and white. Recurring themes in his work are the seamy side of society, taboos and research into the intersection of reality, make-believe world and fantasy. He is particularly fascinated by the stratification of people and circumstances. He only captures moments when someone's authentic self reveals itself. That makes his images pure, vulnerable and intimate.
